The Wedding Countdown Do’s and Don’ts

Once the ring is on their finger, the news has been spread and the date has been set, many brides begin to think about how to beautify before the big day. And while for many of us that means ditching the carbs and reacquainting ourselves with our trainers, there’s a bit more to it than that.

Here are a few tips on what to do (and NOT do) in order to look your best on the big day.

Six Months and Counting…

Now is the time to start thinking about your skin. Kick-start your pre-wedding prep with Olga Lorencin's Red Carpet Facial Kit 30-Day Challenge! Apply the peel to your skin daily for 30 days for a complete complexion transformation. After 30 days, follow with weekly treatments. Next, meet with your esthetician to determine a customized combination of skin care treatments and at-home care. Our favorite treatment: Kinara’s Poreless Facial. Make sure you’re having treatments monthly. For the best results, opt for a combination of exfoliating and hydrating facials. Beware of starting any strong retinol treatments. Make sure your dermatologist or esthetician knows your wedding date to avoid treatments that may induce peeling.

Three Months and Counting…

Tan lines are never a good look; so unless you’re wearing a turtleneck on your wedding day, make sure you’re not forgetting the SPF. Now may be a good time to invest in a strapless bikini top! Get your makeup trial run as soon as you can. You’ll want to be familiar with the makeup you’ll be wearing on your wedding day. It’s not only important that it looks great; you want to make sure it won’t break you out. Those honeymoon pics will be less than glamorous if your skin has a bad reaction to a makeup that doesn’t agree with you. Make sure your bachelorette party is planned well in advance. You don’t want to look like a Vegas-walk-of-shame anytime near your wedding day. But just in case: Kinara’s Lymphatic Treatment is the ultimate detoxification.

Two Weeks and Counting…

It’s crunch time ladies! At this point it’s all about getting plenty of sleep, drinking tons of water, and attempting to keep your stress level down. Do NOT try and experiment with any “exciting” new products unless your esthetician has specifically suggested them for you. Eliminate sugar and alcohol (easier said than done but try your best.) And no cleanses! They can trigger breakouts. Oh, and don’t forget to schedule your waxing and sunless tanning appointments.
