Building Your Fall & Winter Skincare Wardrobe
Think of your skincare like your wardrobe. Summer is all about sheer and light while fall and winter demands a heavier skincare wardrobe that can be easily layered. The best part is there is no need to buy anything new. Using your existing skincare and learning how to layer and cocktail your favorite products will do the trick. We will start with the basics or if you will your base layer.
The Base Layer: You will continue with your daily cleansing and toning routine. If you are using retinol (in the pm) or a Vitamin C serum (in the am) here are some simple modifications you can try.
While these can be considered more irritating actives during colder and drier months you can simply apply Pep-Revive Daily Moisturizer as your base layer first and then proceed as usual. This will give your skin a protective layer that is rich in calming peptides, rejuvenating oils and important antioxidants. I usually like to give my skin a light 2-3 minute massage with this super lux moisturizer and then apply my retinols or Vitamin C. If your routine consists of Lactic Acid there is no need for a base layer. Apply as usual, unless you have a windburn or you are spending more time in harsh weather conditions.
The Mid Layer: There is no better layer than Super HA - rich 5 strains of hyaluronic acids nicely enveloped with some tremella mushroom and calming peptides. Think of this product as a Loro Piana cashmere sweater - easily layered over any other moisturizer or serum light yet substantial in quality. I love to layer over any moisturizer with a high quality serum! My personal favorites are Lactic Acid Hydrating Serum and Super HA for super hydrated and glowing skin.
The Heavy Layer: I like to think of this as your down parka or long wool coat. For chronically dry skin the combination of Heal the Need and Super HA is the ultimate solution. Rich oils when combined with hyaluronic acid provides a thick protective layer that not only infuses hydration into your skin but also keeps your skin’s natural moisture from evaporating - helping your skin heal and rejuvenate all by itself. This is also a tried and true combo for long days spent on the slopes and anytime your skin feels undernourished. Heal the Need is also a nice layer on its own if you are not craving super heavy hydration. Try adding a few drops of this magical oil into your moisturizer anytime the temperature dips and cold air rolls in. Your skin will glow and feel happy and cozy.
When you have a few high-quality products at your fingertips, it’s time to experiment, cocktail, and have fun! While I usually advise against combining products from different skincare lines, OLSC is designed for exactly that. Each product is potent on its own, but when used together, they deliver turbo-charged results.
