MY DETOX DIARY [Part 2]
In my last post, I shared my New Year detox plan…so what does this mean for your skin? A lot! If your body is struggling to process unhealthy foods and alcohol, it’s going to show on your skin.
While some surface skin pathways can be cleansed and detoxed topically, you can’t achieve your most radiant, illuminated complexion if your whole system isn’t working in synergy. Detoxing your skin while ignoring the rest of your body is like washing your feet only and never taking a shower!
To truly glow from the inside out, I combine my 21-day detox plan with the following skin-specific detox.
1. Weekly Epsom salt baths. A combination of magnesium, sulfur and oxygen, Epsom salt is one of the best skin detoxifiers. The ritual of bathing is also an excellent way to de-stress and mentally “detox.”
2. Regular exfoliation. If you use a good exfoliating product consistently, your skin will detoxify itself, especially if your water intake and diet are on point). Click here to discover Olga's exfoliating at-home facials.
3. Topical detoxifiers. Ougon Oil is a potent skin detox ingredient (look for it on ingredient labels listed as Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract). It helps to brighten and even out skin by counteracting pollution and environmental damage. I included Ougon Oil, along with the powerful antioxidant Niacinamide, in my Deep Detox Facial in a Box. Studies have also shown Vitamin C is an effective skin detox ingredient. You can find it in Weightless Moisturizer.
Stay tuned for part 3.
