The Science of Summer Skin

Summer is almost here and let’s face it, this is when we do the most damage to our skin. But what kind of damage are we talking about? Hyperpigmentation is what usually comes to mind, but the truth is that hyper-pigmentation, although difficult to treat, can end up being the least of your worries. The bigger issue is that unprotected, sun-damaged skin loses elasticity, collagen and keratin…all leading to dull, dehydrated and saggy skin.

So, what can you do? Think preventative skin care.

In the long run, it pays to be consistent with results-oriented treatments and a customized at-home skin care regimen, rather than relying solely on expensive laser treatments after the damage occurs. Don’t get us wrong, we love what laser can do for the skin, but the results can be unpredictable and for some skin types, it’s an unsuitable option.

Here are some tips to keep your skin glowing all summer long.

Do we even have to mention this? We know you love your summer bronze, but don’t get it at the expense of your skin. Try a skin-friendly sunless tan and turn heads this season. Also invest in a good quality sunscreen and wear it daily.

Look to cleansers that leave your skin clean and refreshed, not dry and stripped.

A perfect option is Olga Lorencin Skin Care's Rehydrating Cleanser. Formulated with moisturizing and calming ingredients like chamomile and green tea extract, the Rehydrating Cleanser effectively neutralizes skin irritation while removing dirt, debris and makeup.

Don’t forget your antioxidants.

Vitamin C is beneficial all year long, but it’s a must-have during the summer. Help your skin fight against UVA/UVB damage with daily applications of SkinCeutical’s CE Ferulic Serum.

Hydrate and moisturize without adding bulk by using a toner.

Made with soothing cucumber extract, Olga Lorencin Skin Care's Dry Skin Toner can be used on dry skin before a light moisturizer, or even in place of a moisturizer for oilier skin types. Keep a bottle in the refrigerator for a cool skin treat on those hot summer days. You can also bring Dry Skin Toner with you on travel flights to perk up dehydrated, tired, skin. Put a little in a travel spray bottle and mist as needed.
